In previous works, an optimized rotor of an IPMSM: interior permanent magnet synchronous motor, is designed by topology optimization. Previous works tested such rotors with produced experimental systems, and the optimized rotor was intuitively modified by the designer’s hand. Hence, the design at the production level is not a theoretical and technical thing. This study proposes the algorithmic method to alter the optimized rotor for production. Specifically, an algorithm to detect and modify narrow and protruding parts is discussed in this paper. The validity of the proposed algorithm is shown by applying the optimized rotor generated by the optimization discussed in previous works.
