In this research, we developed a 3D printer for continuous carbon fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRTPs) using a dual-arm robotic arm. One of the problems with conventional 3D printers using CFRTPs is that they can only perform planar layered fabrication and cannot arrange the fibers in a three-dimensional configuration. In this paper, we propose a dual-arm system for the 3D printer, which enables a filament containing continuous fibers to be supported by one of the arms during fabrication, thereby enabling a three-dimensional arrangement of fibers. Synchronizing the arm’s control system with the existing printing system made this type of modeling possible. The effectiveness of this system was confirmed by creating a simple trapezoidal three-dimensional printing path.
