In recent years, modular robots with multiple functions and scalability have attracted attention in the fields of industry and medicine. However, few modular robots in microscale have been reported. In this study, we functionalized modular robots that can be assembled and disassembled in microscale. The assemble and disassemble functions of the modular robots were performed by applying a molecular recognition function and a photochromic material. By fabricating a module with three legs and evaluating shape changes of a single module, we designed a modular robot with a gripper function. We succeeded in giving a module robot a gripper function by assembling three modules.
