Abstract

Cell culture techniques have been developed for tissue engineering or other bioengineering applications, and efficient culture methods are required. Cells are seeded and adhere to the bottom of the vessel during proliferation. To reseed and utilize them, they are needed to be detached. In detaching process, Cells are likely to be damaged and contaminated. The process of detaching plays an important role in cell culturing.

We proposed “an ultrasonic cell scraper” that realize contactless detaching by an ultrasound. An ultrasound can apply the force or pressure to the cells contactless. We designed the device to irradiate arbitrary place with an ultrasound, which realize selective cell detaching. We conducted the experiment with the device. The experiment shows that it can detach cells selectively and keep cell’s proteins by irradiate arbitrary place with an ultrasound.
