Lateral motions of a mandible are important to grind the food and form a bolus as well as perpendicular motions, which enable efficient digestion but also offer opportunities to enjoy the flavor and to share such experiences with others. Thus far, we have measured such two-dimensional motions among healthy participants using an accelerometer attached to mandibles. The purpose of this study is to develop a wearable device that supports mastication in daily life by means of real-time measurement of two-dimensional motions and sonification. In this paper, we report the prototype implementation consisting of a control module, a sensing module (accelerometer), and a feedback module (earphone). The prototype is a wireless system, which would contribute to activities in daily living.
