This study improved the design of soft inflatable bending actuator by introducing a force-receiving plate into an actuation conversion mechanism. A conversion film is deformed by the tensile force converted from the expansion force of pressurized balloon. The soft inflatable bending actuator bends by the deformed conversion film. The force transmission efficiency depends on a contact area between the balloon and the force conversion film. The design of actuator was previously improved in terms of bonding position and structural materials. In addition, this study focuses on the contribution of a force receiving plate for improving the output efficiency. This paper reports 10 % of output improvement of the soft inflatable bending actuator.
