Abstract

In this study, we report on a spring-pushing mechanism for reducing the influence of the body movement-induced moment on blood pressure pulse wave measurement. The proposed device comprises a spring-pushing mechanism, a MEMS 3-axis force sensor array, a signal processing board, and bands. We measured blood pressure pulse waves during arm swing to simulate walking using both the proposed device and the existing device. The standard deviation of the local maximum pulse wave values decreased from 36.0 mN to 17.0 mN, indicating that our device significantly improves the measurement accuracy by reducing the influence of the body movement-induced moment.
