Abstract

In recent years, self-driving cars have become increasingly popular, making life more convenient. On the other hand, however, students feel a barrier to the advanced technology, and there is a distance in direct contact with even conventional engineering elements. In cooperation with a local company, our school provided an electric vehicle (EV) and planned activities for students to disassemble, understand the structure, analyze circuits, and build an automatic vehicle in a cross-disciplinary seminar course. In this paper, we surveyed the students before and after the activities in terms of whether they gained an understanding of the mechanism, acquired engineering knowledge and skills, and developed an interest in mechanical engineering.
