Abstract

We have developed dropping-type adsorption logger for sperm whales. However, the developed logger has not been able to achieve long-term adsorption to whales. Furthemore, when the logger was dropped against a slope, the suction cup came off from the main body. This is due to the high rebound speed after collision, and the coefficient of repulsion must be lowered to make it stick. In this paper, we found that a suspended water balloon has the effect of suppressing rebound through experiments. Using this result, we propose a dropping-type adsorption logger with a water balloon and experimentally verify its effectiveness.
