In recent years, VR technology has garnered significant interest for its applications in education, training, and healthcare, highlighting the importance of analyzing VR users’ visual attention. However, the existing approaches lack objective indicators, posing a challenge in accurately assessing users’ attention. This study addresses this gap by introducing objective indicators derived from VR users’ gaze data. We developed a logistic regression model to predict inattentional blindness, defined as a user’s failure to notice a visible but unexpected object within the VR environment―illustrated by the unnoticed presence of a ball. This research not only proposes a methodological advancement in measuring visual attention in VR but also opens new avenues for enhancing user engagement and safety in immersive environments. The findings suggest the feasibility of constructing predictive models for inattentional blindness, providing a foundational step towards understanding and improving user interaction within VR settings.
