This paper investigates Young's modulus and the stress-strain relation of a membrane with tensile test. A numerical study was carried out using the commercial finite element software ABAQUS to understand the effect of Young's modulus and the stress-strain relation on the deformation of a rectangular membrane under simple shear. The elastic region in the stress-strain curve is determined by comparing the tensile test result and the nonlinear finite element analysis result, which is applied to the simple shear problem and the effect of the plastic deformation is evaluated.
