The characteristics of the hydrogen internal combustion engine performances were investigated using two different catalyzers for the internal combustor. One is wavy sheet catalyzer and the other one is wire mesh catalyzer. The comparison of the performances showed that the work in the compression space and the rejected heat of wire mesh were larger than that of wavy sheet catalyzer but the regenerative heat losses are on almost equal level. In addition, the pressure loss of wire mesh was slightly larger and the gas temperatures of the expansion and compression spaces showed drastic decrease and slight increase, respectively. These experimental results suggested that combustion process in the combustor gives a large effect on the temperatures of expansion space and compression space.
