The objective of this study is to search for hydrate-forming substances applicable to novel hydrate-based refrigeration systems. The systems for air conditioning require hydrate formation at a temperature as high as 〜30℃, discharging heat into some fluid in the environment (e.g., air, river water, etc.), while those for water-freezing use require hydrate dissociation at a temperature of 〜5℃. We have found several double-hydrate-forming guest-substance pairs that meet either of the above requirements. The phase-equilibrium data obtained with these double-hydrate-forming systems are presented.
