In air-surfactant solution (TTAB+NaSal) two-phase flow in a vertical pipe, pipe friction factors, void fractions and flow patterns were investigated. The straight circular pipe of D=5.0mm in diameter and L=3350mm in total length was used. Void fractions were measured by closing valve method and flow patterns were defined based on visualization photographs. As a result of friction factor measurement, fiction factors for air-surfactant solution two-phase flow were larger than those for single flow, but smaller than those for air-water two-phase flow. This seems to be due to drag reduction effects of micelle structure formed. As a result of void fractions measurement and visualizations, it was found that a flow pattern of air-surfactant solution two-phase flow changed from a slug flow to a churn flow at low Reynolds number compared with the case of air-water two-phase flow.
