Abstract
The characteristics of internal flow and heat transport phenomena were investigated for a newly proposed heat transport device with phase change. The device consists of two headers and three parallel tubes which connect the headers. R134-a was used as the working fluid. When one header is heated and another header is cooled, high heat transport between the two headers was realized. It was confirmed that two distinct flow patterns existed in the system depending on the amount of heat transport rate. One is an oscillating flow which existed in all the three tubes for low heat transport range and the other is a recirculating flow with some tube (s) for upward vapor flow and the other tube (s) for condensate return flow.
