In this paper, steady state characteristics of the 1kW solid oxide fuel cell test module, which is fueled by City Gas (13A), are discussed. The power generation module is consists of cell stack, internal reformer, combustion chamber, recuperator and other auxiliary components. This module is thermally self-sustaining, and no other heat source is required to operate. In the experiments, we measured the electric current and the voltage, the fuel, air and water flow rates, and temperature inside the module. In order to obtain the part-load performance data, we changed power output setting. As a result, it is clarified that the part-load efficiency decreases together with the power output, since the cell stack temperature becomes smaller with power reduction. Altogether, the measured data were reasonable, and the control systems of fuel utilization, air utilization and steam to carbon ratio worked well.
