The preheat zone of CFRP was much longer than that of PMMA. It indicates that the carbon fibers conductively transferred heat forward. And the solid-phase heat transfer is important for modeling of flame spread of CFRP. However, the conventional flame spread models, only involve the gas-phase heat transfer from flame. Probably, those models would not be able to cover materials such as CFRP. This study proposes a novel flame spread model which considers the solid-phase heat transfer. And to validate the developed model, the calculated flame spread rates of CFRP are compared with the measured ones.
