Abstract
In 2001 the law about barrier free for traffic came into force in Japan, and the passenger ships and car ferry in new regular service must adopt the rules. The car ferry "Lilac" was designed and built with consideration of barrier free, and was the first large car ferry adopted rules above mentioned. In this paper her outline is described, and facilities for barrier free are explained.
