In the research regarding the permissible range of warning error for lane departure warning systems, it is important for examining the safety margin to prevent lane departure and driver's acceptability. In this paper, the permission range for warning error was examined by experimental data and through analyzing the relationship between the occurrence position of warning and driver's perception characteristics. It was shown that driver's perception is related deeply to the occurrence position of warning from the lane marker. And the variance rate of driver's subjective evaluation was in the range of ±15cm around the lane marker center.
