A newly developed parameter design procedure for generic control systems based on Quality Engineering is applied to the design of 2-DOF vehicle steering controller. The controller has 15 design parameters need to be determined for improved vehicle performance. The proposed procedure makes it possible interactive design of the controller using sensitivities on design parameters considering trade-offs among objective functions with low computational cost. Results of statistical evaluation using Monte Carlo simulation and time-series data show that the designed controller has high robustness to variations in vehicle parameters and improved stability in limit maneuvering region.
