This paper proposes a concept of fault detection at running gears using an on-track monitoring system. A railway vehicle with some fault elements has wheel load unbalance running on curve rails. The on-track monitoring system has a potential to detect the load unbalance state with some fault states. Therefore, a concept of fault detection is explained and moreover, experiments at a test track and simulation model were constructed for consideration of fault detection.
