A driver gets information necessary for safe driving through his/her eyes. Then, in adverse weather, he/she feels difficulties to make safe and smooth driving. Although many kinds of lane keeping assist systems are put in practical use, they are useless in the heavy snow or heavy fog, because most of them rely on cameras. This paper proposes the lane keeping assist system using roadside radio markers (beacons) which enables driving in adverse weather. A car should be equipped with a millimeter-wave radar and a beacon transceiver. The basic system design and simulation results are introduced.
