So far, dynamic motions and running safety of railway vehicles against an earthquake have been analyzed using Vehicle Dynamic Simulator (VDS) developed by RTRI. The analysis has been executed under the uniform oscillating condition for all the wheelsets. In a practical sense, however, railway viaducts do not vibrate uniformly, thus angular rotations and misalignments could occur at the railway track on the viaducts. In this paper, we analyzed the dynamics of railway vehicle under different oscillating conditions such as angular rotations of the track for the respective wheelsets. The results show that the effect of angular rotations of the track on running safety during an earthquake is not remarkable, but derailments tend to occur near the angular rotation.
