Abstract
The direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method and the finite volume (FV) method are compared in the calculation of supersonic parallel free jets. The DSMC method is a molecular simulation, while the FV method is one of the ordinary CFD calculations for continuum flow. Back flow due to plume-plume interaction is observed in the two dimensional field. The influence of a pressure ratio and that of a distance between slits are investigated.
