This paper discusses the meaning of "gijutsu" in Japanese that is similar in meaning to technique, skill, or art in English. The word "gijutsu" has been used for describing skill of monodzukuri, -making something. There are many definitions of "gijutsu", and it is usually used as the word for the work. The author has used the word of "gijutsu" for more general, not limited in the work. The definition by the author is that "gijutsu" is "the power and adaptability of the objective actions which have been customized through experiences before." The definition was derived from the three standpoints: the first is to be independent of time pass, the second is to be related to local circumstance, and the thirds is to be closely based on actions to live and succeed. The "gijutsu" is acquired in the process that is a successful series of elemental skills.
