抄録

The author has proposed the new concept of "the history of the future" (History of future, or Future history) after discussions on "the history of technology". The latter is mainly to examine the background & society in the technology developed in the past. And, that is to be viewing "the future states through the past experience". The former is stronger meaning than the latter in the point of view to examine the difference between the present & future situations, and also focuses into the history of the activities done to solve the problems in the present state in meaning as "challenge" for the future. The author has discussed on the difference between the two histories in the case of Isambard Kingdom Brunel in the Victorian civil engineer.
