Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop the fatigue reliability estimation method of surface modified materials. Rotating-bending fatigue tests in air were carried out using smooth specimens of alloy tool steel, SKH51,with two kinds of surface treatment; TiCN thin film coating by the PVD method and duplex treatment with plasma nitriding followed by TiCN coating.
