The finite element method is a powerful tool for computation of stress intensity factors of a crack with curved crack front. In this analysis, an elliptic crack is selected as a sample one with a curved crack front. The three dimensional isoparametric singular elements are used for taking into consideration the singulality of strain at the tip of such a crack and they are arranged so as to surround the crack tip. In element subdivision, the shape of the singular element is designed to be a wedge whose tip corresponds to the crack front. Here, the corner angle of the singular element is designed to be right on the crack surface. The present results approach the exact solutions most when the tip angle of the singular elements and the proportion of the size of the singular elements to the major axis of the crack are about 60° and 1 : 10,respectively.
