Abstract
Thirty-two members of the Judo Club of a certain high school (age: 14-17) in Okinawa prefecture underwent a screening examination for dermatophytosis by Trichophyton tonsurans. 23 subjects (71.9 %) were found positive by the hairbrush culture and 14 subjects (43.8%) within the positive subjects showed more than 5 colonies by the culture technique. All subjects live in the dormitory. It is considered the personal living factors such as the frequency of shampooing to explain the relatively high negative results (28.1%).
