Abstract
Mercury phenyl acetic acid was added to the basic diet of the rats prepared with corn and frozen bean curd. The basic diet contained 13% protein and 6% of fat. The addition of mercury phenyl acetic acid was started from 20μg (eq. to Hg) a day, and gradually increased to 600μg a day. The young rat weighed 60g had growth-hindrance, hypertropy of the liver and the kidneys after breeding of 50 days. However, the addition of 0.09-0.15% methionine to the diets decreased the poisoneous effect of mercury. When the rats weighed abaut 110g which were fed on 16% protein diet with methionine supplement were examined, less poisoneous effect of mercury was observed.
