Space-resolved measurement of the nickel-like silver x-ray laser has been reported. In this measurement, the spatial profile of the gain region is imaged by use of a combination of spherical and planar Mo/Si multi-layer mirrors with a spatial resolution of ˜ 3 µm. The result shows that the gain region has two maxima, which implies that control of the pumping laser while measuring the spatial gain profile is necessary to improve the x-ray laser.
