Initial testing of the US-Japan Data Link has proceeded and the entire system is approaching operational status. An overview of the technical structure of the linkage is given. The file transport and interactive terminal capabilities are discussed and specific example are included. Some considerations of the initial use and scope of allowed activities, and the management of the Linkage are also outlined.
