The relevance of the developmental disorder aspects faced by children and parenting stress of mothers in late pregnancy and postpartum

Abstract

Object: Recently, children with a suspected developmental disorder has been increasing in japan. It has been known that Developmental disorders is associated with genetic and environmental factors, especially emphasized on genetic factors in respect of its onset. However, some recent reports pointed out the importance of environmental factors. Therefore, in this study, we focus on environmental factors which inhibit children's development. Methods: In this study, participants included Mothers with child of developmental disorders and Mothers with healthy child. As a result of the study, mean age of experimental group and control group was 40.8±5.1 and 41.1±4.8 years in that order. Result: The analyses showed that 1. the Mental support from her Husband in the experimental group in late pregnancy was significantly low (p<0.05), 2. the mother's child-rearing anxiety in the experimental group in puerperal period was significantly high(p<0.05). The Mental support from her Husband in the experimental group in late pregnancy may influence to child development.
