Abstract
Nowadays, much attention has been paid for preventive interventions to reduce drinking, smoking and drug abuse among Japanese young women. Heavy alcohol consumption has been associated with infertility which could be concerned with ovulation failure, amenorrhea, dyspareunia and psychosomatic orders. However, young women with alcohol and other drug abuses would be face multiple problems, such as health problems, poor social support and morbid mental illness. Far little works have been made to give explanation for the endocrinological and psychomatic problems among young female alcoholism without smoking and drug abuse. In this report, highlights the endocrinological and psychosomatic point of view on a case of young female alcoholism without drug use and smoking. The case is a 21-year-old nuliparous Japanese woman presented with a 5-year history of severe alcohol drinking due to parent's divorce. She had experienced amenorrhoea, dyspareunia and psychological disorders. On examination, the patient had hypergonadotropic hypogonadism (ovarian amenorrhea) and hyperprolactinemia. The psychosomatic examination (CMI, MAS, ANS-S) revealed that this patient had been suffering from neurosis, anxiety and psychosomatic disorders. By prohibiting alcohol intake along with hormonal and psychosomatic treatment, the patient has recovered the menstruation and normal life.
