Abstract
We isolated abc2 mutant that showed cotyledon-specific albino phenotype from Arabidopsis activation tag line. The amounts of photosynthesis-related proteins in the mutant were lower than those in wild-type. However the transcript levels were similar both in mutant and wild-type. ABC2, which was a novel protein, was localized in chloroplast. ABC2 transcript was accumulated at a high level only in cotyledons. These results suggested that ABC2 was necessary for posttranscriptional regulation in chloroplast development in cotyledons but was dispensable in other green tissues. For further analysis of ABC2 function, we are searching the factors interacting with ABC2 protein by yeast two-hybrid system.
