Abstract
Thermoluminescence(TL) was measured in intact cells of Acaryochloris marina that evolves oxygen using chlorophyll d(Chl d) as a major pigment. TL of cells showed peaks at 42oC and 21oC ,respectively, in the absence and presence of DCMU . The peak at 42oC seems to represent the S2QB- TL band and that at 21oC S2QA- one. The peak temperatures of S2QA- ,S2QB- bands shifted to the higher temperature by 3oC and 15oC ,respectively ,compared to those of Synechocystis PCC6803 cells. The shifts may represent the larger energy difference between QA and QB in A.marina PSII .Peak wavelength of TL of A.marina was shifted to the longer wavelength side compared to spinach suggesting emission from Chl d. Redox levels of components in A.marina PSII were estimated based on TL and delayed fluorescence results.
