Abstract
We are preparing EMS-treated mutants and isolating morphogenesis mutants in the model plant of legume, Lotus japonicus, to contribute to the preparation of bioresource. In the screening by using about 3,000 lines / 60,000 individuals of M2 plants, which were collected from individual M1 plants, 30 and 10 homozygote lines showed abnormalities of morphogenesis in roots/root hairs and ground tissues, respectively. Those mutants have already opened for the public under the condition of collaboration. Those will be deposited to the National Bioresource Project of legume plants. Heterozygote lines of the morphogenesis mutants, which show seedling lethal or sterility, will be also opened in future. Furthermore, samples of genome DNA were prepared from 1,000 lines of M2 plants, and we are trying to isolate the mutant by the reverse genetic approach. In this meeting, we introduce isolated mutants and our organization to supply those mutants.
