Abstract
Generation of superoxide and influx of Ca2+ into the cells induced by Magnaporthe grisea hyphal elicitor was observed in the suspension-cultured transgenic cell line of rice (Oryza sativa) expressing aequorin. The patterns of superoxide generation and increase in cytosolic Ca2+ concentration were shown to be different from those observed in tobacco cells used as a non-host material.
