Recently the biomechanical analysis of human movement has received more attention in the area of sports, medical science and human engineering.
This paper describes a new approach using the simple 3D photogrammetric analyzer system“BIRDMAN” (bundle adjustment with self-calibration) which is used for stereo photographs of human movement with two non-metric continuously synchronized cameras.
The test data were obtained from a person who has been training for dancing for four years and another person who has not been training. Using photogrammetric 3D digital data, person stick-model pictures and the displacement, velocity, and acceleration of the center of gravity for person movement were prescnted.
The result shows that the trained person's arms, legs and waist move over a larger range, with better balanced form, and that the trained person has better speed vector control and more impulsive force for subsequent movement in a 3D space, which is to say that the trained person has better feedforward control for movement than the untrained person has.
As a result of this research, it can be said that the photogrammetric algorithm and analysis developed in this study are useful for biomechanical analysis of human movement.
