Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine for characteristics of the care that Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses provide for ostomates in the ostomy outpatient clinic．
The datas were obtained fron observations of the interactions between six pairs of Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses and ostomates,and analyzed bu qualitative and inductive methods．
As a result,three categories that express Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse's care were extracted:“Protecting the stoma,”“Deceloping one's self care ability,” and “Supplementing ostomate's energy”
The characteristics of the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse's care for ostomates included the skills to treat stoma that acquired as a body sense,the interactiona that emphasize the ostomate's selfs confidence and self-decision making,and the communications that accompany the interchange of deep affection．
