Abstract
The commercialized skin barrier of stoma appliances is hydrocolloid, can absorb sweat or secretion and attach with no inhibition of physiology function. However ,peristomal skin of the Ostomates has been damaged by removal irritation, repeatable peeled off the stoma appliance faceplate from skin surface.Until now,it has not been designed the hydrocolloid matrix to minimize the skin damages of the Ostomates. To improve barrier function by mixing ceramide constituent of intracellular lipids with skin barrier and enhancing function of stratum corneum,we had conducted patch test with health individuals for one month and with ostomates for one year.
As the result, the TEWL(Transepidermal Water Loss)value of both of health individuals and ostomates were improved by mixing ceramide with skin barrier. From this point, the skin barrier contained cedamide is useful for maintaining and improvement of barrier function.
