This study focuses on divine new year's pictures in the Ming era(17AD-Present), such as : Shen Tuan, Yu Lei, Yang Jia Bu, and Nian Hua. The authors analyze their motifs, colors and lines to clarify the relationship between Nian Hua (the god of gate) and Chun Jie (a new year's event) which closely relates to the people's life. The Chinese people use the Nian Hua in praying for a good fortune and for avoiding a bad luck . The Chinese people perceive it as a bond of their spiritual life to representate the simplicity and purity of Yang Jia Bu. The Nian Hua represents the hidden meanings and symbols by motifs, colors and lines. But in present, since the use of chemical color and economical aspect became the main constraints, the Nian Hua has its visual quality and meanings changed.
