Effects of chromaticity on percieved qualities were studied by means of SD methods using dyed polyester chips with constant Muncel value (V = 5.0) in 6 colors. We studied 7 percieved qualities, such as brightness sense, active sense, softness sense, perspective sense, roughness sense, purity sense and shady sense. The effects were measured by means of slopes and correlation constants of the plots of average appraised values against Muncel choma. The brightness sense decreases with increasing the Muncel chroma and with increasing the active sense and perspective sense. The brightness sense is more detectable in blue to purple hues.
