The diversification of design concerns in railway station construction has brought about the involvement of industrial designers, where previously only architects have had responsibility. This objective of this study was to identify and structure station design problems and thus develop a database to support smooth communication between designers and architects. First design problems were classified, and subsequently the structure of the design problems investigated. The collected data was then used to construct the database. Development of the database has helped identify design problems, and thus it is felt that this database has the potential to aid designers and extend the scope of design activities.
