Abstract
In daily life, we catch sight of many patterns.Among those patterns, when the same figure is spread repeatedly on all sides of the whole plane, it is called a "repetitive pattern".The repetitive pattern has both a geometric beauty and a beauty of art.In this study we aim at its analysis from a mathematical viewpoint : the group theory about the repetitive patterns in the ancient fabrics of Shoso-in temple pays attention to their geometric beauty. As a result of the analysis, 9 types from the 17 possible types of repetitive patterns were found. In addition, we examined a CG program corresponding to these 17 types. We apply this program and plan to create new pattern designs, expecting to relate it to the the industry of Nishijin textile.
