Abstract
A set of design experiment was conducted in order to examine the relationships between the higher creativity and concept synthesizing process. Design task was to form a new product by synthesizing between two concepts. Protocol analysis was adopted to investigate a role of thematic relations between concepts in design process. There was a strong correlation between creativity and extension of design space from the result of analysis. Given results was synthesizing two concepts on a thematic relation leads a higher creativity and many different scenes with action concepts were recalled during the design task. It might be considered that if the subjects connect between concepts in thematic relations, design space will be extended and get to a higher creativity for design outcomes.
