Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find the effects of Environmental Graphics on urban spaces. Environmental Graphics is two-dimensional graphic element applied to volumetric objects, such as the surface of architecture. It have taken many active parts in the economic sides, the social sides, and the cultural sides in urban spaces. Firstly, we were able to find out the economical effect of Environmental Graphics, such as downtown revitalization, from the mural project of Chemainus. Secondly, from the Community Murals in San Francisco, we could see the social effect of Environmental Graphics. Thirdly, its cultural effect, assisting the area's cultural value, was found out from the case of Tony Garnier Urban Museum, Lyon. Through consideration of many examples in urban spaces of the 20th century, we could see that these urban works have great influences on our living spaces with a very varied content, style, form and size.
