The production method of a character animation section in a TV program

Abstract

“3D Character Quiz” is one of the segments of the E-Tele (NHK Educational TV) program “Shakeen!”. The quiz uses hiragana, katakana, and numerical characters. By looking for the character on the screen, children who watch the program can memorize a character and become familiar with it. “3D Character Quiz” has been broadcast from 2007 to the present (2012). This paper focuses on the “3D Character Quiz” segments made in the 2011 fiscal year, and describes the features of the production goals and expressive results. The quiz’s significance as a segment of a TV program is also considered.
