Abstract
The author tried to analyze the additional value based on the K. Marx's theory for unveiling contradiction of design as a tool for putting additional value. Marx defined that the value of a product is decided by the average labor time needed to make the product, but price of the product is set not directly by the value but by dynamism of demand and supply in market. Then, market price can be set on the purchaser's personal decision. So that, the additional value makes possible higher price than real value by pushing personal desires of purchaser. In modern capitalism society, the additional values act as a promoter of excessive consumptions for changing accumulated excess-capitals into capitalist's profits, and it inevitably results over energy consumptions and eco-catastrophe. In that, design acts as an effective tool for making additional values.
