Abstract
The purpose of this study is to design easily understanding pictogram. This paper reports experimental results of pictogram cognition for that. Subjects are special needs school of intellectually handicapped, high school, Junior school and university students. There are 355 people in all.They ranked 7 types of 6 item pictograms. As a results, toilet and emergency exit of JIS pictogram are well understanding for them. On the other hand, station, emergency phone, emergency button and tsunami caution must add to graphic elements for easily understanding.
